2023 Murphy Lecture: Intentional Intersectionality: Exploring Climate Change Through the Lens of Vulnerability and Inclusion

On Friday, November 17 at 3 pm, Dr. Lesley-Ann L. Dupingny-Giroux from the University of Vermont will present the 2023 Murphy Lecture, Intentional Intersectionality: Exploring Climate Change Through the Lens of Vulnerability and Inclusion at the KIVA Lecture Hall. Dr. Dupigny-Giroux will explore the ways in which research and teaching about climate change concepts and response strategies can be explored with an emphasis on human and geographic vulnerabilities, so that all peoples and ways of knowing are honored and incorporated. Lessons will be drawn from her use of geospatial technology in formal classroom settings and with lifelong learners to make climate change science inclusive and accessible.
This talk is hosted by the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies abd us co-hosted by the UNM Center for Advancement of Spacial Informatics Research and Education, the Africana Studies Department, the Native American Studies Department, the Department of Economics, the Department of Anthropology, the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, the School of Public Administration, Community and Regional Planning, the College of Population Health, the Department of English Language and Literature, the Department of Chicana/Chicano Studies, the Department of Biology, the Department of Political Science, the Department of History, the Sustainability Studies Program, and the Intermountain West Transformation Network.
