91st Annual Conference of the Southwestern Anthropological Association

Location: Hotel Albuquerque

The 91st Annual Conference of the Southwestern Anthropological Association will take place on April 22 and 23 at the Hotel Albuquerque.  This year's theme is Community, Culture and Wellbeing: The Heart of the Matter and the keynote speaker is Dr. Emily Mendenhall (Georgetown University).There will be three simultaneous presentation rooms, 1-2 poster sessions, film sessions, and a book/coffee room. We hold a poster contest and a student paper contest. On Friday night 4/22 there is a wine & cheese reception co-sponsored by the UNM Department of Anthropology and the New Mexico Chapter of the Scholars Strategy Network and on Saturday night 4/23 is the banquet with the Keynote address by Dr. Mendenhall. 

The call for abstracts takes place January 1- February 15, 2022.  Please submit proposals to swaa-anthro.org.

We are also looking for STUDENT VOLUNTEERS!!
  • Student volunteers will receive free conference registration/admission and 1 free banquet ticket. 
  • Volunteers will attend both days of the conference and work approximately 2-3 hours each day.
