Dr. Bryan Dewsbury will present his talk Cast Your Bucket where You Are: Transformative Teaching in College Classrooms on Tuesday, December 3 at 12 noon in SUB Lobo Room B and via Zoom.
In this talk Dr. Dewsbury leverages the civil rights era mantra of 'casting your bucket' to unpack how active listening and cultural responsiveness are crucial to successful classrooms. Using an example from introductory biology, he will identify what is needed for classroom practitioners to consider a truly humanist approach to the classroom.
Bryan Dewsbury is an associate professor of Biology at Florida International University (FIU), principal investigator of the Science Education and Society (SEAS) research program, and fellow of the John N. Gardner Institute.
