On Thursday, November 10 at 2 pm, Dr. Jaime Chi Pech will present his talk Language Practices of Bilingual Families in a Maya Community in Quintana Roo, Mexico  in the LAII Main Conference Room.  The talk will also be available via Zoom.

Jaime I. Chi Pech received his PhD in Indoamerican Linguistics at CIESAS (Centro de Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social) in 2021. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow at CEPHCIS (Centro Peninsular en Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales, UNAM), where he is studying Spanish-Maya bilingualism in a Maya community in Quintana Roo, Mexico.
 
The talk is co-sponsored by the Latin American and Iberian Insitute, the Alfonso Ortiz Center for Intercultural Studies, and the Anthropology Department at the University of New Mexico. The talk will be delivered in English, but attendees may engage in Q&A after the talk in English, Spanish, or Yucatec Maya.
