Dr. Heather Edgar Receives UNM OVPR Ovation Award for Research and Scholarship

Dr. Heather Edgar has been selected as a recipient of a UNM OVPR Ovation Award for Research and Scholarship. The new Ovation awards recognize full-time faculty for recent high-impact research accomplishments that address local or global challenges, while elevating the University’s reputation on a national and international stage. Faculty recipients showcased the excellence and diversity of world-class research conducted at UNM with new discoveries, innovative scholarship, creative endeavors, and community-engaged projects that have improved the lives of New Mexicans

Following feedback from UNM research leaders across campus, Dr. Edgar was selected for an Ovation award for her work creating the New Mexico Decedent Image Database, a unique and powerful research tool that is opening up new research possibilities and collaborations worldwide.  Dr. Edgar's research also focuses on identifying missing and murdered indigenous women using forensic anthropology.
