The Alfonso Ortiz Center for Intercultural Studies has awarded the Community Engagement Scholarship to Hope Casareno for the Summer 2018 semester.  Hope is assisting with the planning, implementation, and follow-up for the Second Intergenerational Hopi Pottery Festival on July 14 at the First Mesa Youth Center in Polacca, AZ.  She will also assist with planning next year's festival and the ongoing research of the Hopi Pottery Oral History Project.  These projects are a collaboration of the Ortiz Center, the Smithsonian's Recovering Voices Program, and the Hopi Cultural Preservation Project.
