Incoming Anthropology graduate student, Jordan Martinez, has received the prestigious National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship to support her graduate work.
Ms. Martinez, who received her BA with honors from the UNM Department of Anthropology in Spring 2021, is a lifelong resident of New Mexico. Her dissertation research will focus on how social learning shapes variation in traditional dance styles among Native Americans in the Southwest. To explore this topic, she will take a novel and integrative approach that combines theory and methods from biomechanics, physiology, ethnology, psychology, and more.
