Katie Brewer, Archaeology graduate student, has  been awarded a CenterforRegionalStudies Fellowship for her doctoral research on how colonialism and conversion affect burial rites, focusing on how Catholicism altered burial practices at five mission sites in the US Southwest.  This  study includes research with archives from Awatovi, Abo, Quarai, Gran Quivira, and Pecos.
