This summer’s field session will take place at Chaco Canyon National Historical Park, New Mexico. Students will gain essential hands-on training in archaeological survey and site recording. Our work will focus on identifying and documenting archaeological sites along the Chaco Wash in the bottom of the canyon. We will also have fieldtrips to various Chacoan sites in the canyon and across northwestern New Mexico. Students will camp in the Park, and both food and transportation will be provided.  Please see the application form for additional details related to course registration, fees, and scheduling.

Hibben Undergraduate Fellowship Field Training Program 

Undergraduate and recently graduated students of Native American, Native Hawaiian, and Alaska Native descent are invited to apply for an Undergraduate Hibben Fellowship to cover the cost of attending UNM’s 2025 Summer Archaeology Field School. The fellowship covers UNM tuition and course fees (6 credit hours, Anth 375), up to $1000 in travel costs, and a stipend of $3000. See the field school application for more details.
